Diesel generator set
Diesel generator set is regarded as a kind of power generation equipment. Its rationale is to convert heat energy into mechanical energy by burning diesel oil in the engine and then generate power by cutting off the magnetic field depending on engine rotation.
Diesel generator set has some special advantages:
- Relatively small volume, which is flexible and convenient to move
- Simple operation and easy to control
- Energy raw materials (fuel oil) available everywhere
- Decrease one-time investment
- Quick firing, power supply and generation outage
- Stable power supply
- Improve quality of power supply by adopting technical transformation
- Direct load supply from point to point
- Limited influence of natural climate and geographical environment
- Supply power in 24-hours
As a backup and emergency power supply, the reliability of diesel generator set is higher than that of UPS and dual circuit power supply. There are mainly four applications in the following:
1) Self-contained power supply
Self-contained power supply is the power supply for self-use. When the power generation is not too large, the generator often becomes the first choice of Self-contained power supply. Some power users have no grid power supply, such as remote pastoral areas and rural areas on islands far away from the mainland, military camps, operation stations and radar stations on desert plateau. They need to be equipped with their own power supply.
2) Standby Power Supply
Standby Power Supply is also called emergency power supply. Although some power users have reliable power supply from the grid, they can still be configured for emergency power generation in order to prevent unexpected situations such as circuit failure or temporary power failure. Power users generally have high requirements for power supply security, such as safe power supply in hospitals, mines, power plants, and electric heating equipment used in factories. Power failure will cause great regional loss. Due to the use of network management, these units are increasingly becoming the main users of standby power supply.
3) Alternative power supply
Alternative power supply is to compensate for the lack of power supply in the network. There may be two situations.
For one hand, the price of grid power is too high. Considering the cost savings, diesel generator set can be selected as the alternative power source.
For the other hand, in the absence of grid power supply, grid power is limited. The power supply part must be switched off everywhere to limit power. In order to normal production and operation, the power consumption unit needs to replace the power supply to rescue.
4) Mobile power supply
Mobile power is a power generation facility with no fixed application address, which can be transferred everywhere. The power units of generator mobile power supply mostly have the nature of mobile operation; such as oil field, geological exploration, field engineering construction, exploration, camping and picnic, activity command post, train power supply, etc. There are also some mobile generator power supplies with the nature of emergency generator power supply, such as emergency power supply vehicles for urban power supply, engineering rescue vehicles, repair vehicles for water supply and gas supply and so on.
Precautions for using generator
- Clean the dirt and dust on the generator surface frequently to keep it clean and well ventilated.
- Regularly check the fastening of all fasteners related to the generator and tighten all screws in time.
- The tension of the drive belt should be appropriate. If too loose, it will be easy to slip and cause insufficient power generation; If too tight, it will be easy to damage the belt and generator bearing.
- Do not install the battery incorrectly. Generally, the positive wire is installed first, and the grounding wire is not installed. Otherwise the diode is easily burnt.
- Please turn off the ignition switch immediately, when the engine of generator (which has adopted the integrated circuit regulator) is not running.
